Longwood University Chemistry Club | ||||
| Welcome
to the Longwood University Chemistry Club web page. The purpose of
this organization is to promote interest in chemistry and related
scientific fields through community service projects, field trips, and
participation in campus activities. We are a student affiliate chapter of the American Chemical Society, and we currently have 15 active members. Members of the chemistry club have traveled to regional and national ACS meetings, performed chemical demonstrations for Longwood students and local elementary students, participated in a tutoring program for freshmen and organic chemistry, participated in a beer making project, as well as other activities. For additional information, please navigate through our site. |
Lorenzo Romano Amedeo Carlo Avogadro, an Italian scientist, first suggested that "Equal volumes of gases under the same conditions have equal numbers of molecules". It is from this work that we get the concept of the MOLE. Amedeo is the "mascot" for our chapter. You will notice that all of our microbrews have some reference to Avogadro in their names. Avogadro is the first "Professor Molennium"! |
