LONGWOOD COLLEGE
CLINICAL FACULTY INSTITUTE
This three day summer institute for Clinical Faculty is modeled after the National Science Foundation-funded VCEPT institute held at the Richmond Mathematics and Science Center. Its goal is to improve the mentoring and supervision skills of Clinical Faculty who will be working with Longwood's practicum and student teachers. Team-taught by Longwood math, science, and education faculty, it is directed by Dr. Sharon Emerson-Stonnell.
In 1998, twenty Clinical Faculty participated. In addition to helping these teachers become better practicum and student teacher supervisors, it qualified as a professional conference for recertification. Stipends and expenses for participants were paid by the VCEPT grant.
Planning for the 1999 Institute is underway. For information, email Dr. Stonnell.
