Improving the math and science preparation of future teachers
I am the Principal Investigator at Longwood for
two grants dealing with future teachers. The first is the Virginia
Collaborative for Excellence in the Preparation of Teachers (VCEPT), a consortium of Virginia colleges and
universities cooperating on a National Science
Foundation-funded program
designed to improve the mathematics and science preparation of our students
who intend to become K-8 teachers. For more information about this project,
click
here. The second grant, funded by the Fund
for the Improvement of Post Secondary Education in the U.S. Department of
Education, focuses on teacher preparation programs in middle school math and
science. It also involves a consortium of Virginia colleges and
universities. For more information about this program, click
