A New Jersey native, Kerstin joined the Longwood community in July 2004 and since her arrival has co-created an interdisciplinary leadership studies minor and a comprehensive, multi-tiered co-curricular leadership program. She has collaborated with academic affairs to blend co-curricular and academic programs for entering students to create a more seamless transition for freshmen. Prior to her arrival at Longwood, Kerstin developed and implemented leadership programs at Quinnipiac University in Connecticut and Colby-Sawyer College in New Hampshire. She has presented sessions at both regional and national conferences for the National Association for Student Personnel Administrators, the American College Personnel Association, the National Association for Campus Activities, and the National Resource Center for First Year Students and Students in Transition. She has taught core curriculum classes at other institutions and facilitated workshops for the Darden Executive Institute at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business and served as the 2007 National Leadership Symposium co-chair.
