New Year Adventures in Ireland

Are you interested in bringing in the New Year in one of the most delightful and beautiful countries in the Western world?  Come join us on this adventure to visit and learn about some of the most fascinating historical and cultural facets of Ireland and why music, dance and laughter is what defines the Irish.

RECR 390: New Year Adventures in Ireland

(Studying Abroad Waives Gen-Ed Goal 9 Requirement )

Travel highlights:  Dublin city tour: Kilmainham Jail, Trinity College, Book of Kells, National Museum, Guinness Store house and Temple area.    The circuit tour will include the northern part of Ireland, including a stop to see Newgrange, Battle of the Boyne, Giant’s Causeway, Belfast, Donegal, Cliffs of Mohr, Sligo, Glencar Falls, Yeatts country, Galway City and end at the Wicklow Mountains. 

Activities include: New Years day hike up Errigal Peak (2nd highest mountain in Ireland), visit 2 adventure centers, and service project with Ireland Volunteers.   Irish music and dance will be a part of the daily events.

COST:  $2150.00 (includes airfare, accommodations, transport in Ireland, and most meals)

Every summer:
Language Requirement at the Beach!
4 weeks in Valencia, Spain. 6 - 9 credits.

Fulfill your language requirement while immersing yourself in the culture of Spain!
Bullfights! Beach!
Cultural excursions and visits to historic and cultural sites in and near Valencia are included in the program. Also: beach; museums; July Fair; “Battle of Christians and Moors;” the beach; bullfights; “Battle of the Flowers;” Flamenco dancing; the beach; opportunities for weekend trips to Barcelona, Mallorca, Madrid, and other exciting places; concerts in the park; castles; the beach; soccer; tapas; and the beach!

Where? Valencia, a beautiful coastal city with a rich history, friendly people and exciting events, festivals and fun.
Classes:  SPAN 101-102 or 201-202, and other courses in language, history, culture, literature, art, music, and more. You may take 3, 6, or 9 credits in each session. Outstanding instructors; personal attention.
Dates: 1st session: May -June         2nd session: July -Aug
Accommodations: Homestays and three meals per day with friendly Spanish families
Cost: $4,150 per session includes tuition for up to 9 credits (Va. Residents), room and board with Spanish family, activities and tours as specified in brochure, medical insurance. Does not include transportation.
Scholarships: $500 scholarships are available through the Office of International Affairs. Other scholarships may be applicable to this program also; see Office of Financial Aid and check on-line.
