Learn firsthand about business in modern China
while immersing yourself in a culture rich in history and tradition.

Spend 2 1/2 weeks at Anhui University of Technology, Ma'anshan, China, studying international management and communication and participating in activities with the students at Anhui University.  Your accompanying professor will be Dr. Lily Ren.  Features of your trip:  

Participation in this program waives Longwood University's Goal 9
(as an "approved international experience").

  • MANG 295 or MANG 495:  International Management and Communication
  • Substitutes for COMM 420 Intercultural Communication
  • Visits to companies in Ma’anshan, Beijing and Shanghai
  • Conversational Chinese lessons
  • Chinese cooking demonstrations
  • Your own Chinese "Buddy" from Anhui University of Technology
  • Visit The Great Wall, The Forbidden City, Yellow Mountain, Taiping Lake, Nanjing, Shanghai
  • Activities and programs in which you and your Chinese "buddy" participate
  • Lodging and meals will be in the Anhui University campus hotel (air-conditioned, etc.)

MANG 295/495:  INTERNATIONAL MANAGEMENT & COMMUNICATION (3 credits) China is a major force in today’s global marketplace.  Explore how businesses are expanding into the global market and how they must adjust to compete in this new and unfamiliar political, economic, social and cultural environment.  Learn how to effectively communicate in a global setting and become immersed in the Chinese culture with some conversational Chinese lessons and visits to multinational companies.  (This course substitutes for COMM 420 for Communications majors and minors.)


$2,850 Program Price* Includes:
Round-trip Airfare Richmond-Beijing / Shanghai-Richmond and Beijing-Nanjing
Transportation to all sites on itinerary
Accommodations in hotels in Beijing, Shanghai, Anhui University campus hotel
3 meals per day

8:00 am  breakfast
9:00 – 12:00 classes and activities
12:00-2:00 lunch and free time
2:00-5:00  accompanied class activities in Ma'anshan
6:00 dinner
7:30-9:30  discussions; homework; some evening activities
