Be sure to check out the Ride Board if you are planning a trip!
The Ride Board is located in the basement of Lankford Student Union across from the post office; there you can see who is going where and when. It's a great way to carpool to save money on gas and help out the environment at the same time!
Faculty/Staff Carpool Forum
Interested in starting a carpool?
Now you can with the Carpool Forum available on myLongwood. Find Longwood employees going in the same direction, save money and reduce your carbon footprint. Follow these simple steps to join the Carpool Forum:
- Log into myLongwood
- From the myLongwood homepage, select "Groups"
- Select "Groups Index"
- Select "Faculty/Staff"
- Select "Forum-Carpooling"
- Select "Join Group"
Vanpool
For Longwood employees commuting to and from the Richmond/Chesterfield areas, take advantage of the VPSI vanpool as part of the Longwood University tax-free transportation benefit program. Please click here or contact Hazel Duncan at 434.395.2033 or duncanhp@longwood.edu for more information.
Farmville Area Bus
The Farmville Area Bus (FAB) service provides transportation throughout the Town of Farmville seven days a week. Longwood University students ride the FAB for free by showing their student I.D. when boarding. Regular fare for the FAB is $0.25; senior citizens (60 and over) and children under six years of age ride for free. For additional information on the FAB's schedule, please visit the Farmville Area Bus website.
Note for students, faculty and staff residing at Sunchase Apartments commuting to Longwood University: the Blue Line's Cedar & Third stop is for Sunchase Apartments and the Longwood University stop is across from Pino's Restaurant between the Health and Fitness Center and Frazer Residence Hall.
Bridges of Lancer Park
The Bridges of Lancer Park are now open!
Lancer Park is more accessible for residents with the addition of two bridges for vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The vehicular bridge extends from Healey Street in Lancer Park to West Third Street, crossing over High Bridge Trail, and the pedestrian bridge crosses over West Third Street emptying onto Grove Street near Buffalo Street.
