Welcome to Bedford

This is the Bedford Building

The Art, and Graphic and Animation Design programs at Longwood are located in the Bedford Building. Bedford is one of the buildings in the Fine Arts Complex. The new Bedford Building includes studios for graphic and animation design, printmaking, book arts, ceramics, crafts, painting, stained glass, jewelry, paper making, photography and drawing, as well as outdoor work areas, and exhibition galleries. The new Bedford increases from its former 26, 242 square footage to more than 48,000 square feet, and stands as Virginia’s most modern collegiate art facility.

An immediately apparent aspect of the new Bedford is the incorporation of natural light into the building's design. All classrooms and the academic gallery have translucent walls or big windows to allow for ample natural light within the interior spaces. The work on Bedford Hall was chosen for a Silver Citation in American School & University’s 23rd Annual Educational Interiors Showcase (2013), which recognizes the architectural merits of interior projects in educational settings. - See more at: http://www.longwood.edu/2013releases_48706.htm#sthash.0bVlt3Dd.dpuf

The new Bedford stands as a testament to Longwood University’s and the Longwood University Art, and Graphic and Animation Design programs dedication to the future of art, art education, and design through the education of its students.
