Communications and Technology Services
The CTS department is tasked with the responsibility to provide leading edge communications services in support of the instructional, research and missions of Longwood. CTS delivers high quality and reasonably priced voice, data and centralized server services to all segments of the institution's community.
Computer Engineering Services (CES) is tasked with the planning, implementation, and management of Longwood University’s computer servers. Our staff oversees the operating system and hardware environment of over sixty Windows and Linux-based servers, while ensuring both the reliability and security that are necessary for our user community. Additionally, CES provides e-mail to the campus along with services such as DNS, resource access, and centralized tape-backup and SAN infrastructure.
The Office of Information Security is responsible for developing and implementing campus-wide policies, controls and procedures to protect the University’s information technology resources and systems from intentional or inadvertent modification, disclosure or destruction, as well as monitoring user adherence to these policies: arbitrating and resolving issues and problems relating to ownership, accessibility and updating responsibilities for computer generated or stored data at the University; and educating the user community in the ethical usage of information technology resources and systems.
Instructional Technology Services is here to help you with academic needs (software and hardware) in the academic computing labs, with satellite downlinks, distance education class schedules and facilities, and faculty and staff training in technology. In addition, our Multimedia Services can assist with video production, sound production, web production and satellite transmissions.
Instructional Technology Services also works with the student DJ's in WLMU (91.3 FM), the Longwood radio station. WLMU works in partnership with WMRA FM (James Madison University) to bring National Public Radio to the Longwood and Farmville communities.
The mission of Software Support Services is to provide effective and efficient system analysis, design, programming, project management, support, user training and strategic planning that will further enhance Longwood information systems.
The mission of the Project Management office is to provide project management and oversight support for approved Longwood University IT projects.
User Support Services/Help Desk
