Who is required to have a laptop?
All entering Longwood University Freshman and transfer students are required to purchase a laptop. Because of volume discounts, strong support on campus, and the four-year-on-site warranty it is recommended that Longwood students purchase a laptop through the Longwood/Dell or Longwood/Apple Laptop Programs.
What kind of support of my Longwood/Dell or Longwood/Apple laptop will I have on campus?
The technician in our Computer Repair Center is certified to perform warranty repair work on both Dell and Apple laptops. The first contact for students in need of support of their Longwood/Dell or Longwood/Apple laptop is the Residence Technology Associate Program.
What if I need technical support before arriving on campus or during the summer?
Longwood/Dell machines carry a Next Business Day warranty which covers you from home as well as when you are on campus. Call Dell Technical Support at 1-800-234-1490.
Longwood/Apple machines carry a three year Apple Care warranty. The Apple Express Lane support number is 1-800-275-2273.
Does the laptop warranty on my laptop cover the screen if it breaks or cracks?
A Complete Care warranty is included in the Longwood/Dell laptop specifications. This warranty covers many things that are not covered in the standard warranty, such as a cracked or broken screen and spilling liquids on the keyboard.
How long is the battery that ships with my laptop warranted for?
The battery is a consumable product and is warranted for (1) year.
What is the method of payment for my laptop? Is financing available?
Dell and Apple accept all major credit cards. Financing via payment plan is currently not availalbe for Longwood/Dell or Longwood/Apple laptops.
