With the semester rapidly slipping away, User Support Services would like to thank everyone for their patience during the transition to the new Scantron system. We would like to remind you of a few things to keep in mind when giving a test via Scantron.
The scanner is quite sensitive and unless the "bubbles" are filled in darkly and completely with a #2 pencil, the answer will be rejected. This is applicable for the student answer sheets as well as the key. As a rule, if the number on the bubble shows through, it is not dark enough for the scanner. Also, it is mandatory that the students complete the Student ID section with a unique eight character number. It is strongly suggested that the students use their Longwood ID Number (minus the L) since this is guaranteed to be a unique number for each student.
User Support Services staff is not able to manipulate the tests or keys in any way. So to assure that the tests are run in a timely and accurate manner, please follow these few guidelines for completing the tests and keys.
Many of you have asked the purpose of the form that has to be turned in with the tests. We take the information from the forms for the reports to identify the instructor, course, and section. Also, this serves as a record of dropping off and picking up the tests.
Tests will be run daily, Monday - Friday at 10:00 and 3:00. Please allow two hours after this time for processing. If you would like to be sure that your test is ready, feel free to call User Support Services and we can confirm that the test is ready to be picked up. During exam week, these times will be modified and further communication will be sent out in reference to this as exam week approaches.
If you have any questions regarding the Scantron process, please contact User Support Services at x4357 or email helpdesk@longwood.edu.
