The Virginia Department
of Education has contracted with VCHETRC to conduct the School Health
Education Profile (SHEP) Survey since 2000. See below for the
Profiles for 2000, 2002, and 2004. According to Dr. JoLynne DeMary,
Superintendent of Public Instruction:
"The School Health Profile ("Profile")
study will be used to obtain accurate data of current school health
education activities. This will help the VDOE, the Virginia
Department of Health, and other state agencies and organizations develop
or revise programs to improve the delivery of school health education to
students. The data will help in planning staff development
activities, allocating program resources, and providing a basic for
future funding requests."
