PAYDAYS
I. PURPOSE
The purpose of this policy is to set pay schedules for the University.
II. POLICY
A. Method of Payment: All employees will be paid by check or a direct deposit draft issued by the Comptroller for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
B. Pay Advances: The Comptroller will not issue a check for advance pay. In the event of an administrative error on the part of the University, the Vice President for Administration and Finance may approve a pay advance as an exception to the pay policy. Funds must be available in petty cash to cover the advance. The petty cash fund will be reimbursed in the next pay cycle from the employee's regular pay.
C. Contractual Employees
Paydays: Contractual employees will be paid semi-monthly on the first (1st) and the sixteenth (16th) of each month unless they should fall on
a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday, then payday will be the last work day
immediately preceding.
D. Part-time Employees
Paydays: Temporary wage employees are paid the first (1st) and sixteenth (16th) of the month.
E. Paycheck Distribution: Paychecks or direct deposit drafts for contractual wage employees may be picked up from the Cashiering Office by a departmental representative and distributed within each department. Those not picked up by 2:00 p.m. on payday are mailed. Students pick up their checks directly from the Cashiering Office.
F. Direct Deposit:
Full-time employees and wage employees have the option of participating in direct deposit. Under this program,
employee paychecks are
automatically deposited into a bank of their choice.
