BEGINNING DATE OF EMPLOYMENT
I. PURPOSE
The purpose of this procedure is to provide consistency in the administration of benefits and payment of wages for new employees.
II. POLICY
The beginning date of employment should be consistent with the pay period for the employee constituency. The new employee will benefit from consistent beginning employment dates by receiving accurate pay and benefits and by attending a scheduled orientation program. The mandatory orientation program facilitates the completion of all appropriate employment and benefit enrollment forms. Adherence to this practice is highly recommended in order to encourage a positive and productive work environment for each new employee.
A. Full-time Employees: The
pay period beginning dates are the 10th and 25th of each
month.
B. Part-time Employees: The
pay period beginning dates are the 1st and 16th of each
month.
C. Alternate Beginning Date:
If the beginning of a pay period occurs on a weekend or
agency
holiday, the employment date will be the following Monday.
