 ACADEMIC COMPUTING LABS POLICY

I.    PURPOSE

The purpose of this policy is to provide guidelines for the use of the academic computing labs by employees and students of the University, as well as other authorized users and groups.

II.     POLICY

A.  Hours: Academic Computing Labs are open to all Longwood authorized users during posted hours.  

B.  ID Requirement:

1.  Internal Groups or Individuals: Users may be asked to present a valid Longwood ID upon entry and/or sign a usage log.  A valid Longwood ID is required for printing (see Common Area Printing policy).  Special groups sponsored by a Longwood department, academic or administrative, may receive printing authorization by using a valid departmental printing card. 

2.  External Groups or Individuals: External groups using the academic computing labs may receive printing privileges by obtaining a printing card from the Conferences and Facility Scheduling (CFS) office. There is a charge for printing by users from outside the
Longwood community. CFS will provide the rates for printing in black and white and in color in the academic computing labs.

C.  Prohibitions: Food and drink are prohibited in all academic computing labs.

D.  Faculty Right to Ask Students to Leave: Longwood faculty have the right to ask students to leave when a class is in session.
               
F. Unauthorized Entry or Access:  Unauthorized entry or access into academic computing labs during or after posted hours is a security violation and will be reported to the appropriate authority for action.
