(in case you didn't already know)
- Back to Back 20-win Seasons
20 wins is widely seen as a threshold that separates good teams from everyone else. The Longwood men’s team has tallied 20 wins in the last two seasons—the best in the Big South over that stretch. Much of that comes from a home court advantage that is second to none, and where we’re 17-2 in the Big South over the last two years.
- A New Arena
Building on the success of the team on the court, Longwood is set to open its new arena, the Joan Perry Brock Center, this summer. Already nicknamed “JPB” and located next to Willett Hall, it will increase home capacity to 3,000 and become one of the most beautiful—and toughest—places to play in the Big South.
- A Unique Journey Men's fourth-year Head Coach Griff Aldrich has led one of the biggest turnarounds in college basketball. He’s also got one of the most unusual personal stories you’ll hear in the game.
- New Leadership Erika Lang-Montgomery took the reins of the women’s basketball team this year following a historic run to the NCAA Tournament in 2022. In a rebuilding year, her philosophy of the “Right STUPH”—servanthood, thankfulness, unity, passion, and humility—inspired a young, talented team to tough wins against in-state rival Radford.
- A Venerable Institution
Longwood may be a new star on the college basketball scene, but it’s one of America’s hundred-oldest colleges, with an idyllic campus and devoted alumni. Here’s everything you need to know about Longwood.
- The Heart of Virginia
Longwood’s home town, Farmville, may not be what you picture from the name. Instead, it’s a proud, charming and historic two-college town that has no doubt rallied to the Lancers this year.
