Interdisciplinary Approach

Water quality monitoring can help meet many of Virginia's Standards of Learning (SOLs) categories and strands including:
• Earth Science
• Environmental Science
• Life Science
• Biology
• Resources
• Scientific Investigation, Reasoning and Logic
• Social Science

World Water Monitoring Day events organized by teachers, schools, parks, civic organizations and local governments can help students and parents understand that water plays many important roles in our world. Protecting our water quality (and quantity) starts with understanding how critical water is to our everyday life, as well as the lives of fish, turtles, birds, mammals, insects and other animals of the world.
