Jacob Dolence grew up in Wyoming. He went on to attend University of Wyoming, University of Idaho, and Northern Arizona University. He holds a B.S. in Resource Recreation and Tourism, a Graduate Certificate in Environmental Education and an M.A. in Sustainable Communities. Jacob previously taught as an instructor and lecturer at Northern Arizona University for 7 years in the First Year Seminar Program, the Sustainability Master’s program, was the chair of the Innovative Thinking Undergraduate Certificate. While at NAU Jacob also served as director of the student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Incubator. Jacob has also worked as an outdoor science educator, a rock climbing guide, and founded and ran a small business. His research focuses on student engagement in higher education around the intersections of the outdoor leadership, disruptive innovation, and civic engagement. In his spare time he enjoys trail running rock climbing, and cooking.
