7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
At Soza Ballroom
Longwood’s Department of English and Modern Languages will host an on-campus reading and interview with award-winning novelist Carolina De Robertis, the 2022 John Dos Passos Prize winner, on Wednesday, April 5.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place at 7 p.m. in Soza Ballroom in the Upchurch University Center, followed by a reception with complimentary refreshments. De Robertis, who is best-known for the novels The President and the Frog (2021), Cantoras (2019) and The Gods of Tango (2015), will read selections from their work followed by a question-and-answer period. De Robertis, a Uruguayan American author of five novels, is known for giving voice to the beating hearts of people navigating a terrifying world and illuminating what compassion and resilience look like in the face of confounding policies and state violence.
The Dos Passos Prize, first launched in 1980, is a premier literary award given annually by Longwood University to a talented American writer who experiments with form, explores a range of voices and deserves more recognition.
