In the early evening last night, there was a terrible single-vehicle car accident about 40 miles from campus, in which one of our students died, Shiv Sharma, a vibrant figure on campus who was a sophomore political science major from Springfield, VA.
The spring is supposed to be a time of celebration and of anticipation for the future. For all of Longwood today, it is a time to mourn this great loss. As we hold Shiv’s family in our thoughts, please also care for one another, in the tight-knit spirit that marks the heart of our university. Our counseling center is open and available for any student who feels the need to talk with someone.
We are in touch with Shiv’s family and will share news of service and memorial arrangements in the days ahead.
