The Office of First Year Experience is not only responsible for all Orientation & Registration programs and New Lancer Days but also ensuring you have the best possible experience during your first year at Longwood and beyond. Peer Mentor Interest Meetings 2011

We will be having a final Peer Mentor Interest Meeting for students who are interested in applying and would like to learn more about the peer mentor role on the following dates in Hiner Auditorium Room 207:

-Monday, January 23rd at 7:30pm

Interested students will only have to attend one meeting. These meetings are not mandatory to apply, but highly recommended.

 

Peer Mentor Applications 2012

We are excited that you have chosen to apply to become a Peer Mentor for 2012-2013! Please find the Application and Google Doc below. Returning Peer Mentors and New Peer Mentors have separate application forms. Make sure you select and complete the appropriate form. The Peer Mentor Google Doc is a part of the application and is submitted on-line. Applicants who do not submit the Google Doc form will find their application incomplete.

Peer Mentor applications are due to the Office of First Year Experience in Lankford 216 by January 25, 2012 by 5:00pm. ONLY applicants submitting their application over Winter Intersession can submit their complete application via email to firstyear@longwood.edu. All other applications must be turned in hard-copy to our office during normal business hours (9am to 5pm).

  • Parents Council Grants 2011-2012

    The Longwood University Parents Council is happy to announce that they will be starting the annual Parents Council Grant Process! The council has made opportunities available for  Longwood students, student groups, university departments, faculty and staff to be given funds for projects and services that will benefit the Longwood University and/or the community.

    Recipients of Parents Council Grants will be announced mid-November! Thank you & good luck!

     
  • Summer Orientation & Registration 2012

    All First Year Students, Transfer Students and Readmitted Students entering Longwood Fall 2012 are required to attend Summer Orientation & Registration.

    The registration site will OPEN on March 1st. Students will be able to register for Orientation at that time through the MyLongwood portal.  Please check our website regularly for updates.

  • Congratulations New Coordinators!

    We would like to congratulate Mr. Kevin Bradtke, Orientation Coordinator and Mr. Brian Reid, New Lancer Days Coordinator for their new positions as FYE Coordinators! The individuals did an excellent job in their two years of service as a Peer Mentor on both Fall & Summer Team, and we are excited to be working with them as office coordinators!

    We would like to also show our sincere appreciation to Mr. Bobby Smith and Mr. Ernest Elliott--our outgoing coordinators.  These two gentlemen have done an amazing job this past year and have taken our programs to a whole new level. Their many contributions to our office and Longwood community will forever be remembered!

    Congratulations again, and we are excited for yet another successful year!

     
 
 

Summer Orientation & Registration 2012

Online Registration for Orientation will open on March 1st!

Students will be able to register for Summer Orientation & Registration on March 1, 2012 through the MyLongwood portal. Please reference the Orientation & Registration page for more information.

ROCK the BLOCK

Rock the Block is a block party held at Longwood Landings at Midtown square for Longwood students and faculty, and the Farmville community. This event is a partnership between the university and the Town of Farmville.

Rock the Block 2011 will be held on Friday, Septembet 16th from 5:30pm to 9:00pm in the Longwood Landings at MidTown Square Complex.
