March 20, 2026 – In partnership with Prince Edward County Schools, members of the Call Me MISTER (CMM) Program at Longwood University welcomed local fourth‑grade students to campus for Lancer for a Day, an annual initiative designed to introduce young learners to college life and inspire early college aspirations.
With energy and enthusiasm, MISTERs greeted students and challenged them to begin thinking like college students while encouraging them to enjoy every part of the experience. Throughout the day, MISTERs accompanied students on guided campus tours, attended mock classes with Longwood faculty, and supported them as they engaged in activities that showcased academic life, campus culture, and the possibilities of higher education.
Lancer for a Day is a longstanding collaboration between Longwood University and Prince Edward County Elementary School that provides fourth‑grade students with hands‑on exposure to college through workshops, classroom experiences, and campus meals. The involvement of Call Me MISTER scholars further enriched the experience by offering students visible role models and reinforcing Longwood University’s commitment to access, mentorship, and building early pathways to higher education.
