Jennifer Gerlach, Ph.D., NCC, Resident in Counseling is an associate professor and field placement coordinator in Counselor Education at Longwood University. Prior to Longwood, Dr. Gerlach served as an assistant professor and school counseling coordinator at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi for five years. Before moving to Texas, Dr. Gerlach spent six years as a high school counselor in Chesterfield, Virginia. She has extensive group counseling experience at Full Circle Grief Center in Richmond, Virginia and is currently working to obtain her residency in counseling hours with children and adults there as well. Dr. Gerlach is the project director of the Southside Mental Health Grant, awarded by SAMHSA. Her research interests include student-athletes, wellness, school counselor preparation, suicide prevention, and bereavement counseling. She is a proud graduate of both the University of Tennessee-Knoxville (B.A., 2007) and Virginia Commonwealth University (M.Ed., 2011; Ph.D., 2017).
