Stand-Up Comedian Derrick Stroup Hits the Joan Perry Brock Center Stage

JPB Show to Bring an Evening of Laughs Courtesy of Stroup and Rainwater

The Joan Perry Brock Center at Longwood University will welcome comedian Derrick Stroup for a performance at the campus arena on Thursday, Sept. 28. He will be joined on stage by fellow comedian Brandon Rainwater as the opening act. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. and is open to the public. It will also serve as a ‘welcome back to campus’ show with 1,000 free tickets available to Longwood students.

An Alabama native, Stroup performs with the cadence of an angry auctioneer as he engages audiences with his detailed stories, over-the-top energy, and plenty of charm. Since starting his comedy career in 2015, Stroup has become a regular opener for the likes of John Crist and Josh Blue. In 2019, he won one of the biggest comedy contests in the country at the world-famous Comedy Works in downtown Denver, beating out more than 250 other acts.

Public tickets for the 90-minute show go on sale Sept. 8 for $19 each. Longwood University students will be able to access to the pool of free tickets on Sept. 7. More information, including event and ticketing details, will be released soon.
