Children and the grown-ups who love them meet weekly to participate in a fun, playful, and interactive musical experience. Families are immersed in live singing, movement, and instrument play to develop musicianship through body awareness and auditory processing. These informal, hands-on early childhood music classes give families and children a chance to get in touch with their inner musician and connect with other families.

The Heart of Virginia Community Band is composed of residents of Farmville and the surrounding area who enjoy making music with their woodwind, brass, and percussion band instruments.
Members of all skill and experience levels are invited to join us!
Our seasons run from mid-August to early May. Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings.
We perform three free-standing concerts each year on the Longwood campus and then at the Heart of Virginia Festival.
We also provide smaller ensembles during the season for various events staged by local civic organizations.
Our playlists range from 19th and 20th Century traditional concert band compositions to Broadway and Hollywood scores to contemporary pop tunes.
