Jamie Wagner has been active on campus with various service organizations such as Operation Smile, the National Student Speech-Language Hearing Association, the Lions Club, Heartland Horse Heroes, FACES, the Aneurysm and AVM Foundation, and the Southside SPCA.  As a member of the Cormier Honors College, she hosts prospective students to Longwood University.  She assumes leadership roles, often serving as an officer or chairperson, to not only plan and organize events, but is also “hands-on” at the actual events to raise money, promote awareness, and ensure successful outcomes.

Her dedication aligns well with the principles of “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People”.  She is Proactive (Habit 1) in choosing to be involved with these organizations.  She plans events with a clear End in Mind (Habit 2).  She is astute with attention to detail to accomplish the goal (Habit 3).

Her interpersonal skills are strong and are demonstrated when carrying out activities so all parties benefit (Habit 4).  To recruit and motivate volunteers requires the skill to understand and encourage others (Habit 5).  When serving in these roles she has created a Synergy (Habit 6) to impact the end result to be greater than any individual effort.

Jamie has a focus on continuous service and growth.  Her diverse interest and involvements bolster her personal “Sharpening The Saw” (Habit 7).  In her essay, Jamie writes, “these positions have presented new experiences to me and given me the opportunity to work on new skills to be a successful leader”.  Well stated Jamie !!!
