New Lancer Checklist

Your LancerNet ID serves as your primary username, granting you access to various campus services resource. It's essential for logging into platforms such as myLongwood, Canvas, and the LancerNet wireless network.

Your Longwood email account (also known as Live Mail) is where you'll receive all university communications, including class updates, billing information, and important announcements. Be sure to check it often!

Students seeking Virginia in-state tuition rates must submit the In-State Tuition Form to determine eligibility.

Your Lancer Card (also referred to as your Longwood ID card) is required to enter buildings, access your meal plan, and more.

Submit your photo by following the steps on the Lancer Card page. Be sure to review the photo requirements and submit it before January 8, 2027, to receive your ID with your housing keys. Those unable to meet the submission deadline can visit Lancer Card Services in Eason 204 on the next business day to obtain their ID.

Your Department Chair will register you for your spring classes. This will ensure that you are registered appropriately and taking the courses needed for your degree. However, they may choose to register you for your major classes and then ask you to round out your schedule with one or two additional courses.

Please mark your calendar! New Student Orientation will be held on Monday, January 11, 2027. Orientation registration will open in mid-October, and you will receive an email at your Longwood email address with instructions to register.

If you have trouble registering or cannot find the email, please contact us at studentsuccess@longwood.edu.

The housing application will be available beginning November 2, 2026, and must be completed by December 4, 2026. Once the application opens, be sure to complete your housing application so Residential & Commuter Life can begin preparing your housing assignment.

Housing assignment information will be communicated to students by December 9, 2026.

Be sure to check your Longwood email regularly for housing updates and additional information from Residential & Commuter Life.

An Immunization Record (completed and signed by your doctor) is required for all full-time students. The Immunization Requirements and forms can be found on the University Health Center page along with information about how to submit.

Your final high school transcript must be submitted by Orientation.

Transcripts must be:

• Official and sealed
• Sent directly through Parchment, dropped off at the Admissions Office, or mailed to:

  201 High Street

You may also bring a sealed, official copy with you to Orientation.

Note: Transfer students who have earned 24 or more college credits do not need to submit a final high school transcript.

Submit your 2026–27 FAFSA to maximize your financial aid opportunities! Once the Department of Education sends the FAFSA data to Longwood, we typically issue financial aid offers within 7 to 10 days. It is important that you file your FAFSA by March 1 (Longwood’s priority filing date) to ensure full consideration for grant funding. You may file the FAFSA after March 1; however, grant funds are limited after March 1.

Some students are randomly selected for FAFSA verification to confirm financial details. If you're selected, you'll be notified by email and can view the required documents in myLongwood. Please submit the requested documents within 30 days of email notification. A verification tutorial video is available to assist you.

Once your financial aid offer is available, you'll receive an email with the details. Review your award, understand the different types of aid, and accept or decline offers through myLongwood. If you haven’t already, be sure to accept your financial aid offer in your myLongwood account.

The first Spring 2027 e-bills will be sent on Friday, November 20, with additional bills sent bi-weekly beginning December 1.

Spring semester bills are due by Wednesday, January 6. Before your scheduled move-in date, your bill must be:

• Paid in full
• Secured by a monthly payment plan, or
• Covered by financial aid

If you’d like to spread out your bill, you can enroll in a monthly payment plan.

Enrollment fees vary based on when you sign up:

• $5 if you enroll before the billing due date
• $25 if you enroll after the billing due date

Enroll early to save money and make sure your payments are set up on time.

To help us process refunds quickly and meet IRS requirements, you can submit a W-9 form with your Social Security Number (SSN).

Providing this information is optional, but without it, refunds may take longer or require follow-up for tax reporting.

If you receive federal financial aid, you can choose to complete a Title IV Authorization Form.

This allows your aid to cover additional charges (like the Loading...), which can help prevent outstanding balances.

This form is optional and can be revoked at any time. If not completed, your aid will only apply to eligible tuition and fee charges, and you may need to pay other charges separately.

If you expect to receive a refund (money returned to you after financial aid is applied), enroll in direct deposit to get your funds faster and more securely.

Funds go straight to your bank account—so you can access your money sooner and avoid delays or lost checks.

If you don’t enroll, refunds will be mailed, which can take longer to arrive and process.
