The first wind symphony concert at Longwood University this semester will feature two talented students who have not yet made it to college.

Jonathan Wyatt, a junior at Randolph-Henry High School in Charlotte County, wrote a piece titled To Spring that will make its premiere at the Feb. 25 concert. Angels in the Architecture, a major work by one of the world’s top current composers, Frank Ticheli, will feature soprano Jonathan Keohane, a 7th-grader at Prince Edward County Middle School.

The 50-member Longwood Wind Ensemble will also perform Mother Earth Fanfare by David Maslanka, First Suite in E-flat by Gustavo Holst, and MetroDance by Longwood music professor Gordon Ring.

The performance is Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 7:30 p.m. in Jarman Auditorium on Longwood’s campus. Admission is free and open to the public.
