CAPS offers formal psychological testing for Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Specific Learning Disorders. Testing is completed over the course of two sessions and typically takes 6-8 hours. Assessing for ADHD/SLD is comprehensive and involves a diagnostic interview, psychosocial assessment, and evaluation of academic achievement and intellectual abilities. The evaluation is thorough in order to obtain specific evidence that ADHD/SLD does or does not exist or uncover other issues that may be affecting learning and academic performance. As a result of the intensive and time-consuming nature of this type of evaluation, testing has an associated fee of $750. While testing involves a sizeable financial commitment, the Licensed Clinical Psychologists in CAPS are able to offer testing at a fraction of the cost compared to providers in the community. Further, as a result, you will receive a detailed report that outlines your intellectual and academic abilities, which may be used to obtain accommodations.

What do the tests include?

The testing battery will include most or all of the following:

  • A thorough interview
  • Completion of questionnaires
  • Review of outside information
    • Report cards
    • Academic transcripts
    • Previous IEPs or tests
    • Questionnaires completed by family or close friends
  • Standardized one-on-one testing

After you complete this process, we will provide you with a comprehensive report, in-depth feedback and recommendations.
