Congratulations to Jeri Tyler (Biology) ’22 and Alyson Lucas (dual enrollment through Prince Edward High School) ’22 for winning two awards at the 2021 Sigma Xi Scientific Research Honor Society Student Research Conference. Their presentation was titled "Epigenetically Heritable Effects of Maternal Behavior in Rats".
Jeri and Alyson won the following awards:
- Undergraduate Division Presentation award in the category of “Biology and Evolutionary Biology”
- Interdisciplinary Award for their research in the field of “Biology and Biotechnology (Understanding the Brain, Origins Life (Assembling Tree of Life), Understanding Biological Systems).”
In summer 2021, Jeri started this research during the PRISM program and Alyson volunteered to gain research experience before applying to college. Jeri and Alyson worked with their mentor, Dr. Adam Franssen, on this behavioral neuroscience project in the new Allen Hall Neuroscience Research Lab.
