Our Pre-Medical (Pre-med) concentration is designed to give students a competitive advantage for entrance into medical, dental, or veterinary school. You'll work with a team of faculty who will advise and guide you through the application process to professional schools.

It's also a great fit for students who want to continue their education in other health-related advanced degree programs and professional medical careers.

Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) Early Assurance Program (EAP)

One option for students who declare interest in their first year is the Early Assurance Program (EAP), which gives you the opportunity to receive specialized mentoring from a Longwood Biology Pre-Med advisor, and an advisor associated with the EVMS program, then apply early to Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS). 

Longwood has four EAPs with (EVMS): 

You will meet regularly with your advisors to make sure you are on track to fulfill all program prerequisites and build a competitive application.

Juniors apply to the EVMS program and, if admitted, enter the EVMS program after graduation.

You will receive a strong foundation in fundamental biology; how cells function, how whole organisms like humans work and are put together, and how life of all types interacts to create the dynamic living world we live in.

The pre-med concentration will focus on the broad biological training necessary to meet all prerequisites for admission to advanced career programs at medical, dental, veterinary, or medical professional schools.
