  • Graduate English Professor Publishes New Book

    Dr. Craig Challender newest book of poetry, As Details Become Available, has been published by Pecan Grove Press.
    Dr. Challender teaches American literature and creative writing at Longwood University.
     
  • IPAD, SPED, and LU graduate

    Katy Lernihan, a 2005 graduate in SPED, was featured on ABC News Channel 7 in Washington, D.C. on June 6,  2011. Katy is featured using IPADs with her students with autism spectrum disorder.

  • Health and Physical Education Graduate Faculty attended the Virginia Health Physical Education Recreation and Dance Conference in Reston, VA ( November 9-12 ) where the new Master of Science in Education - Health and Physical Education Concentration - was marketed at an exhibit. Dr. William Thomson, Assistant Professor of Physical Education, takes his turn at the table.
     
  • Literacy Leadership for 21st Century Learning

    20 graduate students in the Literacy and Culture program recently attended a conference--Literacy Leadership for 21st Century Learning at the University of Mary Washington. Sessions included The Library of Congress presentation on Teaching with Primary Sources to Promote Literacy, an International Reading Association presentation on Policy Trends That Will Impact Literacy Instruction, and a Spotsylvania County Public Schools presentation on Literacy Partnerships for the 21 Century.  Dr. Gretchen Braun also attended.

  • Longwood Graduate Student Featured in VCGS Video

    Education/School Library Media student, Kimber Tate, was showcased in a video prepared by the Virginia Council of Graduate Schools (VCGS) and John Woody. The VCGS collaborates and promotes graduate education in Virginia. Each February they host a Research Forum to highlight graduate students across Virginia. For the 2010 Forum, VCGS produced a video for each of the 12 member institutions highlighting a student from each. Longwood's largest graduate program is Education/School Library Media. Ms. Tate is an English teacher at Broadway High School in Rockingham County and currently enrolled in that program.
