The RN to BSN program includes the essential content recommended by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing and the BSN at Longwood University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). You'll learn skills and also develop the professional qualities that continue to keep nursing as one of the most trusted professions.

Admissions Requirements

  • Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing from a state-approved program
  • A minimum GPA of 2.5 
  • Unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse
  • Employment as an RN for a minimum of six months and plan to practice concurrently with coursework

  • Quantitative Reasoning: 3 credits: MTH 171 (MATH 245 at the VCCS)
  • Historical and Contemporary: 6 credits: ENG 241-244 (ENG 251,252,253 or 254 at the VCCS)
  • Global Citizenship: 3 credits: REL 242 (REL 230 at the VCCS)
  • Human Behavior and Social Institutions: 3 credits: EDUC 245 (PSY 230 at the VCCS)
  • Aesthetic Expression: 3 credits (HUM 210, ART 130, SPD/CST 100, SPD/CST 141 at the VCCS)
  • Scientific Reasoning: 3 credits: PSYC 101 (PSY 200, 201, 201 at the VCCS)
