  • END OF YEAR DAMAGE/REPAIR CHARGES

Damage Billing Explanation & Appeal Instructions

Longwood residents are responsible for move-out conditions that are considered beyond "normal wear and tear."

Following move-out, the Residence Education Coordinator (REC) makes the final inspectionand assesses any applicable damage/repair/cleaning charges. These professional staff members strive to ensure that charges (whether stemming from vandalism, theft/loss of university property, or general loss of issued keys), are accurately assessed to the responsible individual(s).

Pre-existing conditions, as noted in the move-in portion (requiring student signature) of the Room Condition Report can be cross-referenced with the actual move-out conditions. If the responsible individual can’t be easily identified, all members of a suite, room or apartment will be equally charged.

Main campus residents that opted for an EXPRESS CHECK-OUT agreed to pay for damages/repairs, missing furniture, cleaning, and/or trash removal assessed and forfeits their right to appeal any damages/repairs assessed.

RCL will send electronic notification on May 30, via Longwood email, only to residents that have incurred damage/repair charges.

Students who incur damage/repair charges have the right to submit an on-line appeal form before the 5:00pm deadline on June 12, 2013 .  Appeals will not be accepted in person or via telephone.

Final appeal decisions will be communicated, via the Longwood University email account (unless another alternate email address is provided) no later than June 19
