The Sports Club program is designed to serve individual interests in different sports and recreational activities.
These interests range from the very competitive sports clubs that travel and play intercollegiate competition to the recreational and instructional clubs that conduct activities such as basic skill development, and intra-club tournament play. All clubs will strive to enhance and promote the element of good sportsmanship, the well being derived from physical activity and the socialization aspect of their sport.
Subject to individual sport club governing agencies, students, faculty and staff who have a current identification card may enjoy membership in clubs Sport Clubs.
No student, faculty or staff will be allowed to practice, travel or play in any club sport without personal health insurance. Each participant must complete a waiver before any activity takes place. Waiver forms can be attained from Club Presidents or on our website. Faculty and staff are eligible for associate memberships with the ability to engage in unofficial competitions and games, as well as, any non-competitive recreational activities, unlessed deemed otherwise by their sports governing agency. Each club is organized and run by students under the supervision of an advisor, in collaboration with the Coordinator of Sports programs within Campus Recreation. Emphasis is placed on student leadership opportunities and involvement.
All Sports Club Presidents and Advisors will be responsible for registering the club with the Student Union in Lankford Hall which is now done online. The President of each Sport Club will be automatically assigned to a seat on the Sports Club Council and will be required to meet at least once a month on dates that will be determined by the Campus Recreation office. Clubs must be in attendance at these meetings.
