Winter at Longwood brings a nip to the air and the festivities of rich holiday traditions as the fall semester winds to a close. These events fill our hearts and are an annual reminder of Longwood's true community spirit.

Grand Illumination
The holiday season isn’t complete without the twinkling, two-story-tall holiday tree in the Rotunda. Just before finals week, the community comes together to hear vivid descriptions of cherished Longwood traditions and watch as President Reveley lights the tree for the first time.
Camerata Carols
As final exams loom, the Camerata Singers—Longwood’s premier vocal ensemble—helps put the campus in the holiday spirit with a selection of carols sung around the Rotunda's holiday tree.
Traditionally on the program are Jingle Bells, O Christmas Tree, Deck the Hall, Up on the Housetop and Jolly Old St. Nicholas, with a few surprises each year.
Holiday Dinner
For more than four decades, the Department of Music has hosted a Holiday Dinner and Concert to fund music scholarships and celebrate the season in style.
Performers hail from Longwood’s top ensembles: the Camerata Singers, Chamber Singers, Wind Symphony, Jazz Ensemble and Percussion Ensemble.
