Lancers do not have to choose between their recovery and their education.

Longwood Recovers is Longwood’s Collegiate Recovery Program (CRP) that offers a supportive and informal voluntary support group to assist students in, or considering, recovery from alcohol and/or other substance use issues.

Since the Spring 2023 semester, we have extended our support to our community in recovery from eating disorders, problem gambling, and any other addictive behaviors. Our recovery coaching is a strengths-based, voluntary, informal, and non-clinical peer support service that engages, educates, empowers, and supports our community to maintain recovery while navigating higher education.

What We Do

Provide a non-judgmental, non-critical, private forum for discussion and support with members of the university community who share common challenges. Longwood Recovers is a place for those in recovery to come together to discuss how to support one another and how to reach out to members of the collegiate recovery community.

What does it mean to be in RECOVERY?

Recovery is a holistic well-being lifestyle and can mean many different things for each individual, not just quitting but also harm reduction and accountability. Also, recovery is not limited to substance misuse, and we are here to help with any addictive habit someone may wish to break or reduce.

All Are Welcome

If you are in recovery, think you might have a problem with alcohol or drug addiction, or if you have questions or concerns related to addiction recovery, please get in touch.

Community Building:

We offer a safe space to our members, the Longwood Recovers Lounge. The lounge provides students with our “Recovery Roast Coffee,” coloring materials, a monitor to connect your device, board games, and fidgets. This same lounge is used to host our supportive and informal group meetings.

We collaborate with other CRPs nationwide, offering recovery events, trips, and trainings for our community.

We promote academic success and are in the works to provide scholarship opportunities to our student members.
